The Aggregation of Marginal Gains

Rogue Amoeba attributes its consistent development of high-quality, award-winning software over 24 years to the principle of the “aggregation of marginal gains,” inspired by cycling coach Dave Brailsford's method of improving many small aspects by 1%. The company continuously implements incremental improvements in areas such as their Customer Dashboard, centralized Permissions window, unobtrusive update notifications, and licensing interface, resulting in enhanced functionality and user experience over time.

Free The Icons

Apple’s MacOS 26 (Tahoe) introduced a “Liquid Glass” design for app icons that resulted in blurry, less distinct icons and mandated a uniform squircle shape for all third-party app icons, reducing their usability and personality. However, the upcoming MacOS 27 (Golden Gate) betas show improvements with sharper Apple app icons and a push to restore varied, distinctive icon shapes, which would enhance both usability and creativity by allowing icons to be more easily distinguished.
